Volunteering: From Compassion to Action

People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. Many enjoy the feeling of giving back to others in their communities while some enjoy taking away valuable life skills or professional benefits. Volunteers at Cantata are the key driving force that carry on our organization’s mission, helping people live their “best lives.” We provide an array of opportunities that appeal to many interests, ages, and personal goals, ranging from event assistance, participating in recreational activities like horticulture, teaching life enrichment classes, and much more! These positions provide not only leadership experience, but also the chance to establish real connections and make a positive difference in the lives of our seniors.

One volunteer, Sandy, works as a backup receptionist at Wye Valley and enjoys learning about our residents’ interests and interacting with the constant traffic at the front desk. She jumps in when needed and is always willing to lend a helping hand. Before she became a volunteer, Sandy was an active Handyman, Lifelong Learner, and Breakfast Club attendee!

Carol has been a dedicated volunteer for almost three years and does arts and crafts with our residents. Her husband was in our rehab and she knows how much the staff took care of him so Cantata holds special meaning to her.

Megan enjoys playing games with the residents and knows how grateful they are to have another member join in on the fun.

Even though volunteering has a lot of personal feel-good vibes, studies have shown that volunteering also helps people stay physically healthy, combats depression, increases self-confidence, and lessens symptoms of heart disease.

It’s never too early or late to make a difference, so what are you waiting for? Join our vibrant volunteer-centric organization today to reap the many rewards that it offers. Our volunteer schedules are incredibly flexible and you are in control of your hours, whether it’s seasonal, on-call, one-time, or year-round.
